Sixtine Macquet, between rigor, passion and ambition

A promising start

Sixtine Macquet discovered basketball at the age of 7. She quickly distinguished herself and joined the departmental, regional and then national teams. After a year of sports studies , she joined INSEP , a center of excellence for French sport, where she played for three years. At 18, she signed her first professional contract and joined a Ligue 2 team. A season later, she was crowned French champion and reached Ligue 1. Today, she plays for Basket Landes and represents the French 3x3 team every summer.

An intense routine, recovery as the pillar

Sixtine's schedule is punctuated by training, matches, and travel. With two matches per week, managing recovery is essential. Weight training, team training, photoshoot sessions, and physio appointments make up her daily routine. She emphasizes the importance of recovery to avoid injuries and maintain performance throughout the season.

Mental preparation, a real lever for performance

For the past five years, Sixtine has been working with a mental trainer . Every two weeks, she takes the time to address key themes such as concentration, confidence, routines, and goal setting . For her, this approach is as important as physical preparation. She cites the example of Teddy Riner to illustrate how much the mental aspect can make a difference at the highest level.

Overcoming difficulties, bouncing back stronger

She recalls difficult periods in certain teams, particularly during the play-downs, where the pressure can be stifling. Despite these moments of tension, she was able to bounce back by stringing together victories. These experiences, far from holding her back, pushed her to progress until reaching the Euroleague level.

Career highlights

Two memories remain etched in her mind. The first, her U23 3x3 World Championship title, won against the United States in 2022.

His advice for younger people

To young athletes who dream of reaching the highest level, she passes on three essential keys: believe in yourself, give yourself the means to succeed and, above all, never lose the joy of the game. For her, it is this authentic passion that allows you to last over time.

Future goals and dreams of grandeur

Sixtine doesn't intend to stop there. She's aiming for a great performance with the French 3x3 team this summer . Longer term, she's dreaming of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games... and why not a career in the WNBA 🇺🇸.

A philosophy of life

Everything that happens to you is for your own good. ” This quote accompanies her every day. For her, every obstacle is an opportunity to learn, grow, and carve her own path to excellence.
